Driving Information and Public Transportation
Chattanooga is nestled in the southeast corner of Tennessee along the Georgia border. The region is situated at the intersection of three major interstate highways, I-24, I-75, and I-59. In fact, Chattanooga is conveniently located approximately 104 miles northwest of Atlanta, 100 miles southwest of Knoxville, 125 miles southeast of Nashville, 90 miles northeast of Huntsville and about 145 miles northeast of Birmingham.
The city is served by the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA). CARTA operates 17 bus routes, including free electric shuttle service in the downtown area which runs continually until 11pm along Broad Street from the Chattanooga Choo-Choo on the south side to Coolidge and Renaissance Parks and the trendy Frazier Avenue shopping area on the north shore. Free wireless Internet is also available on certain "smart buses."
