Chattanooga Head Race

Chattanooga Head Race

October 9 / Ross' Landing / 8:00am

Since 1992 the Lookout Rowing Club has organized and sponsored the Head Race
Chattanooga Head Race, a 5k timed rowing event ending at Ross' Landing in downtown Chattanooga.  From its beginning the event has focused on being a relaxed, but competive, rowing event for both new and seasoned competitors..

The amenities of the City of Chattanooga, including close proximity of hotels, restaurants, parking and spectator viewing create an exciting and memorable event for those who attend. Plenty of spectator spots are available on all the downtown bridges and both sides of the river.  Register a team or simply come watch, it's a great way to spend a fall afternoon on the water.

The Cannonball

The Cannonball

October 15 / Stringer's Ridge / 8:00am

This cool new race starts at 8:00 AM.  Runners have one hour to complete thephoto
four-mile trail loop that goes along the Stringer's Ridge route Eli Lilly used to set up his cannons and shell downtown Chattanooga.  If you don't finish in the hour, you are eliminated. Simple huh?

Not so fast.  The race resumes at 9:00 AM and those that are eliminated or don't answer the bell are out.  The race continues every hour on the hour until only one runner remains.  After several loops the race director will have the option to reduce the time by one minute per loop and so on.  Start in the morning and finish under the moon with the coyotes and all the exhausted, eliminated runners around you.  If you have the energy, you can take a winner's lap (or just collect your prize and head for a long soak in the tub.)  You'll love it, a chance to test yourself and all your pals.  The Cannonball also features a 10k if that's more what you're looking for so go to Ultra Signup and register for a chance to be the last man (or woman) standing!  Contact cannonballruntrail@gmail.com or check out the facebook page for more info.

Nature Calls

Nature Calls

October 16 / Lula Lake Land Trust / 10:00am

Nature Calls 15K & 5K is primarily a quarterly celebration event for the road
200 Mile Club but is still open to anyone. These Nature Calls races are held in the beautiful Lula Lake Land Trust and generally occur on the 2nd Sunday of each new quarter (4/10/16, 7/10/16 & 10/16/16).

Mainly a low key, no frills, low cost, no awards social race, run, and/or hike. The 5K is about as easy as can be found in this area and the 15K has some real challenges with the High Adventure trail, including a rope section and the difficult trail that travels down to the bottom of Lula Falls. This event is open to anyone traveling at any speed. Hikers are most welcome as that is likely the exercise of choice of many engaged in the 100 mile
club. The run/hike will be followed by a $5 barbecue dinner.
